Truckee, California: Bar of America located in historic downtown Truckee, CA, is hosting its first Donner Party. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Truckee-Donner Historical Society. The Donner Party will be held on October 29nd, 2015 at 6pm.
The evening will feature an extensive themed buffet, Bar of America’s signature drink, The Cock-Tail, optional pioneer attire, with live music and dancing. The Truckee-Donner Historical Society generously donated their time and efforts to help Bar of America research this historic site through photos and history during their extensive remodel in Nov, 2014. Bar of America in support of the Historical Society’s will donate proceeds of the Donner Party to the Historical Society to preserve Truckee’s legacy.
Tom Ballou, Bar of America’s General Manager said, “The Truckee-Donner Historical Society members brought Truckee’s rich history to life for me. They are extremely generous with their time and resources helping us understand the historic and architectural continuity of our site at Bar of America. We are happy to make this contribution. And we love throwing parties!”
Chaun Mortier and Chelsea Waltersheid of the Historical Society said, “It was very exciting to see the great amount of enthusiasm, impossible work and expense these guys put into the preservation of this fine historic building. They have brought new vitality to historic downtown.”
As many Truckee locals will say, Bar of America goes over the top with exciting and energetic events; this event should be no different.
The Donner Party at Bar of America is for adults and is a benefit for the Truckee Donner Historical Society and will be held on Thursday October 29 at 6:00pm. Tickets for the event are available at Bar of America or through the Truckee Donner Historical Society in advance for a donation of $25 per person or $30 at the door the night of the event. “Every dollar we raise for the park goes back into the park,” Knudson said. “Parks down in Sacramento, San Francisco and Marin County have consulted us trying to see what we did to survive. But it takes a lot of time. People won’t, or can’t, work for free, so that’s why our project has happened when others haven’t.”
